In the summer of 2006 I initiated a photo project in the most multi-cultural neighbourhood of Ghent: the Brugse Poort. 7 photographers documented the diversity of the people living in this part of town. In the back of their head they had paintings of Flemish painters such as Van Eyck, Memling, Bosch and Breughel. The result was shown at an open air exhibition during the summer months. Special guided tours were organized to take people from ‘outside’ through the Brugse Poort. Helped by the summer sun, people that had never met before started sharing their lives.
